Kaliardà (Greek: Καλιαρντά) is the secret language of the gay community in Greece, developed from the 1940s through to the fall of the dictatorship in the early 70s.
The slang was studied and transcribed by 'urban anthropologist' Elias Petropoulos, who created the first dictionary of gay slang in any language.
Once a secret language to evade the hostile community, many of the words have now become widely known thanks to their use in magazines and television and thus not used much nowadays.
